So... now I have decided to put in my own opinion, and want to answer if I think that Persephone's story has a happy ending. So, after researching it, I realized that many people have different ideas on what makes the story have a happy ending, or a bad one. Some say because Persephone is able to see her mother, and Hades in each part of the year, it makes her have each half of what she wants. But others say that because she was abducted by Hades, and ate the pomegranate seeds that kept her in the Underworld for half of the year, she was unhappy with him for doing all of that to her, and therefore, ended up unhappy. I believe that all of those answers are right, and I agree most certainly with each of their arguments. However, I do the slightest bit disagree with the people saying that Persephone's story did not have a happy ending... I think that it did.
Although some may argue that Hades abducted her, and that Demeter is super depressed in all of the time that Perspehone is gone, once Hades took Persephone, she actually learned to like him, and saw what he was trying to do. Also, it made everyone happy when she was able to in the underworld for part of the time, but out on the earth with her mother for the other half. I do believe that she was also happy with this, because not just only being able to see everyone in her "family," she is able to have a really big part in the Greek's culture: the separation between winter and summer. But not just only that... when she is in the Underworld she gets to welcome every soul in, which the Greeks also appreciated, so they could become more accustomed to the Underworld like she had when she was taken by Hades. So, being really appreciated by all of the Greeks, and being able to have multiple jobs, while seeing each side of her family, I believe her story lead to her becoming happy... therefore, having a "happy ending."
